Tom Rockne, President
Passageways
President Tom Rockne is a native of Fargo, North Dakota. He earned
a Bachelor of Science in History from Minnesota State University Moorhead.
He began his professional career as a researcher for the Minnesota
Historical Society, worked for the Sergeant-At-Arms Office of the
United States Senate in Washington, DC and then taught high school
history, government and geography.
Tom began his official travel career in 1976 with Daytons Travel Service
in Minneapolis, MN. Subsequently, he returned to Fargo and managed
First International Travel there before joining Northwest Airlines
in 1982. While with Northwest he held sales positions in Chicago,
Los Angeles and Minneapolis. His final position with Northwest prior
to joining Passageways was Vice President Sales Planning at MLT Vacations
Inc.- Northwest's wholly owned tour company.
Tom's travel experiences have been many and varied. He has trekked
the Dogon country along the border between Mali and Burkina Faso
and visited Timbuktu; traveled across Australia from Ayers Rock
to Kangaroo Island and on to Cairns; made several visits to China
including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xian.
Tom's vast experience on all sides of the travel equation has him
"hands on" in dealing with vendors to assure Passageways
delivers real value to its customers.
Tom and his wife, Jana, have two sons. They enjoy golf, reading
and travel.
